About Mawby & King Ltd

Our History

Mawby & King Ltd was established in 1933, making us one of the UK's longest-established independent glass manufacturers. For over nine decades, we have been producing high-quality glass products from our manufacturing facility in Leicester, building a reputation for reliability, quality and technical expertise.

Our mirror manufacturing line was first installed in 1988, and since then has been enhanced multiple times to incorporate the latest coating technologies. Today, our facility represents the state of the art in water-based mirror and lacquered glass production.

Leadership

Mawby & King is led by Joint Managing Directors Andrew King and Julie King, who bring a combination of deep industry knowledge and a commitment to continuous product development. Under their leadership, the company has invested significantly in manufacturing technology and product innovation — most recently with the introduction of our latest generation of water-based, lead-free mirror in 2022.

Manufacturing Facility

Our purpose-built manufacturing facility on Upperton Road in Leicester houses our complete production capabilities: mirror coating, lacquering, CNC cutting, edging, drilling, shaping, bevelling and quality control. Having all operations under one roof gives us full control over quality and lead times, and allows us to offer a comprehensive one-stop service for all interior glass requirements.

Environmental Responsibility

Our transition to water-based, lead-free paint technology across both our mirror and lacquered glass product ranges reflects our commitment to more sustainable manufacturing practices. By eliminating lead-based compounds and solvent-based paints from our production processes, we have significantly reduced the environmental impact of our manufacturing operations while simultaneously improving product performance.

Serving the Trade

Mawby & King is a trade supplier. Our customers include furniture manufacturers, interior fit-out companies, architectural specialists, sliding wardrobe door manufacturers, kitchen and bathroom suppliers, glass merchants and more. We supply processed products as finished articles or components, and stock sheets for customers who have their own cutting and processing facilities.
